Program Events for the General Public
Although all symposium sessions and events are open to the public, the events listed below are particularly suited for a general audience. 

The Samuel Bak Exhibit will be on display open to the public and free of charge in the Gallery of the Texas Tech University Library from 25 March to 13 April, 2004. Exhibit hours are Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Visitor parking on campus is $1.00 an hour weekdays and free on weekends in the Maedgen Theater Lot between 18th St. and the Library. SPECIAL PUBLIC READING by Stephen Graham Jones, author and professor of English at TTU. Selections from That Bird is Gone and Bleed into me.
5:00-6:00 p.m., Qualia Room, Foreign Language Building, introduced by Laura Beard

Theater Production of "America Shows Her Colors," a play by Norman Bert, professor and playwright at Texas Tech University, Department of Theater and Dance. The performance will take place at the Main Auditorium of the International Cultural Center, 601 Indiana Ave., from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. The performance is open to the public; admission is $2.00 per person. WELCOMING REMARKS by Jane Winer, Dean of Arts & Sciences at TTU.
KEYNOTE LECTURE by Lawrence L. Langer, "Representing a Vanished People: Samuel Bak's Landscapes of Jewish Experience"
2:00-3:00, Foreign Language Building 105, introduced by David Larmour. Refreshments provided by the Fine Arts Doctoral Program at TTU will be served following the keynote lecture.

SPECIAL PUBLIC PERFORMANCE, 3:15-4:45: Presentation of Excerpts from the Drama "Anne Frank" with Panel Discussion by the Director and Dramaturg in the English Building 001. Refreshments following the event provided by the Fine Arts Doctoral Program at TTU.

SPECIAL PUBLIC EVENT, 10:00 a.m. "The Landscapes of Jewish Experience"
Official Opening of the Samuel Bak Exhibit in the Gallery of the Texas Tech University Library.
Introductory Lecture by Lawrence L. Langer in the Conference Room of the Library; refreshments will be provided by the Fine Arts Doctoral Program following the lecture. Free parking available on Saturday in the university parking lot on Boston and 18th street.
