Student Checklist for Study Abroad in Germany

This list will be revised shortly for the summer of 2008

Student Responsibility Checklist -- 2004
____ Passport. Make sure you have a valid passport 2 months prior to departure (make copies of information
          in case of loss or theft)
____ Airline tickets and flight information (arrange through Council Travel)
____ International Student ID (accounted for in program cost, available through OIA)
____ Registration for courses GERM 3305 and GERM 3306
____ Textbooks and Supplies for both courses
____ (opt.) Eurrail pass, recommended for travel after program (available from OIA, must be purchased at least
          6 weeks prior to departure for Europe)
____ (opt.) Telephone card (not prepaid calling cards which do not work in Europe)
____ (opt.) Credit card or debit card (VISA or Cirrus work best)
____ (opt.) Traveller’s Checks
____ (opt.) IEFS Scholarship Application forms
____ (opt.) German Program Scholarship Application forms

Study Abroad Program Forms (turn in to Dr. McClain, FL 215: deadline 15 February)
____ Program Application forms (due ASAP)
____ Letter of Introduction for host family
____ Student Responsibility Agreement
____ Refund Policy Statement (due ASAP)
____ Private Travel Agreement (if applicable)
____ Request for Waiver of Fees (for GERM 3305 and for 3306)

Packet of University Emergency and Liability Forms (turn in to Dr. McClain, FL 215)
____ Release and Hold Harmless Agreement
____ Travel Itinerary
____ Passport Information
____ Address Information
____ Verification of Insurance / Health Information / General Waiver
____ Permission for Emergency Treatment
____ Student Responsibilities

Program Payments (payable at the ICC, Office of International Affairs)
____ 1 December 2003  Initial deposit ($150)
____ 22 March 2002 ($575)
____ 29 April 2002 ($575)

Other Payments
____ Texas Tech Registration Fees (use fee waiver form to reduce tuition payment)
____ Flight to and from Germany (payable to Council Travel, or private carrier)
