Graduate Programs in Applied Linguistics & Second Language Studies

The department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures offers a variety of programs for graduate students interested in second language acquisition and second language teaching. With an exceptional faculty within and without the department, we offer the student solid training and education in both theoretical and applied areas.

M.A. in Applied Linguistics: we offer an M.A. with options in two areas, (1) second language teaching, and (2) second language acquisition.

Certificate in Teaching English in  International Contexts: designed to enhance the backgrounds of those interested in a teaching career, focusing on teaching English in contexts outside the U.S.

Ph.D. in Second Language Studies: designed for the student who wishes to pursue research and scholarship with a focus on second language issues, with the intended goal of a university career
